Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Film Commission recently released the new digital application for smartphones and tablets, “Film SC”. The app’s debut marks the SC Film Commission’s expansion to the technological side of location and crew scouting.

“We believe that this new app will appeal to locals, visitors, scouts, and filmmakers alike,” said Duane Parrish, Director of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism. “It’s a fun and interactive way to explore the state and will remind users of how many classic films and television shows have been shot throughout South Carolina.”

Film SC, now downloadable in the iTunes App Store at this link, offers filmmakers and scouts detailed information about filming in South Carolina. The app presents an easy-to-use format with the ability to search for information on filming sites and crews, support services, filmography of the state dating back to 1914, production incentives and more.

Additionally, the app provides users with driving distances between locations. Detailed information regarding each prior film location within the state appears on an interactive map.
