West Hollywood, Calif. – West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation (WHCHC) is thrilled to announce that Actor/Writer/Producer Dan Bucatinsky will serve as Master of Ceremonies for its 2014 Gala celebration, “Changing Lives/Making History,” which will take place on Sat., Mar. 22, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the London West Hollywood, 1020 N. San Vicente Blvd., West Hollywood. The Gala is WHCHC’s premier fund-raising event.
Best known for his role in the ABC drama series Scandal; Bucatinsky won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2013. Bucatinsky was the writer, producer, and star of the 2001 romantic comedy All Over the Guy. He has also appeared in episodes of many television series, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Weeds, Friends, NYPD Blue, That ’80s Show, Frasier, Will & Grace, and Grey’s Anatomy. Bucatinsky will attend “Changing Lives/Making History” with his husband, Screenwriter Don Roos.
Bucatinsky will present WHCHC’s “Game Changer Award” to retired Federal Judge Vaughn R Walker, who will also serve as the Gala’s Keynote Speaker. Judge Walker became the focus of the nation’s attention in 2008 with his ruling in the State of California’s Proposition 8 case, which ultimately was heard by the Supreme Court. The ruling was instrumental in the legal pathway to same-sex marriage equality in our state.
WHCHC’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” will honor Edmund D. Edelman. Dubbed “an inspired leader and an improbable politician,” Edelman was a County of Los Angeles Supervisor and Los Angeles City Councilmember who became a fixture in the hearts and minds of countless Angelenos as a visionary force.
The “Community Vision Award” will recognize the extraordinary contributions of the nonprofit organization Shelter Partnership, which works with community-based organizations (CBOs) throughout the County of Los Angeles in the recognition that homelessness can be solved if we all get together and do our part. Shelter Partnership provides program support, policy resources, and technical assistance aimed at providing permanent housing with supportive services.
