Los Angeles, CA – On Wednesday, September 3, 2014, British American Business Council Los Angeles (BABC LA), will host its Distinguished Speaker Series Breakfast and Business Networking Mixer at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows (101 Wilshire Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 90401) from 7:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
Themed “Women in World Business,” this event will feature Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE, Chief Executive of Mitie Group PLC. An accredited leader and successful businesswoman, McGregor-Smith is one of only a few women appointed as CEO in the FTSE 250 or FTSE 100 and serves as the first Asian woman to achieve this rank among these two company groups.
The Mitie Group PLC is a strategic outsourcing and energy services firm headquartered in Bristol, UK. Mitie welcomed Mrs. McGregor-Smith to its firm in 2002 as Group Financial Director. Upon her designation as CEO in 2007, Mitie has seen a record-breaking growth in revenue from £0.5bn to over £2.0bn.
Financial Times has consistently included Mrs. McGregor-Smith in the Top 50 Women in World Business, ranking her 32nd in 2009, 35th in 2010, and 33rd in 2011. Additionally, she has served as Chair of the UK Woman’s Business Council since 2012 and was appointed as a UK Business Ambassador in 2014.
